Billy Napier discussed Florida's sixth fall training camp practice, freshman receiver Eugene Wilson III made a significant impression after being limited in the initial non-contact sessions. Coach Billy Napier highlighted Wilson's breakthrough, acknowledging his initial soft tissue issues and noting his potential to enhance the team. Wilson is expected to contribute immediately alongside fellow freshmen Andy Jean and Aidan Mizell. The trio showcased their speed during an open practice. Napier emphasized their verified speed while underlining the importance of translating it into on-field performance, involving mental aspects like assignments and techniques. He commended their progress in understanding various elements of the game and their dedication to improving their roles and overall teamwork.
“They’re all extremely fast. I think that always helps, right? Documented speed. I think Andy, Aidan and Trey (Eugene), all three, are verified fast,” Napier said. “Receiver is still a very skilled position so it’s one thing to be fast and another to play fast. There’s a mental component here relative to my assignment, my technique, my adjustment to the coverage."
