No one could convince me the Florida Gators were not the best team in 1994. At one point ranked No.1, the shine faded with a fluke loss in the Swamp to an undefeated and probation-riddled Auburn team that somehow pulled off a magic act against a far superior Gators team for the second year in a row. 

If Florida wins the 1928 national championship, it’s a safe bet the Gators sustain success much longer than they did.

I remember spending the night before at a friend’s house, and his family would drive up to the game the next day. On the way to dropping me off, my friend said, “well, maybe we’ll score on them.”
