GAINESVILLE, FL – If Florida Gators’ defensive coordinator Todd Grantham didn’t have his hands full before Saturday nights’ game against Missouri, he certainly will come the Gators’ first defensive outing against the Tigers.
As initially reported by Gators Territory’s Zach Alboverdi, the Florida defense will be without three starters from the secondary. Cornerback Marco Wilson, in addition to safeties Shawn Davis and Donovan Stiner, will all be unavailable for Saturday night’s game.
In the absence of Davis, freshman Rashaad Torrence II is expected to make his first start. Meanwhile, junior Trey Dean III and sophomore Jaydon Hill are expected to replace Stiner and Wilson, respectively.
Further reports indicate that the Gators will be missing a total of eight defensive backs against the Connor Bazelak-led Missouri offense. Bazelak, a redshirt freshman, has thrown for over 200 yards in the Tigers’ last three games – including a 406-yard and four touchdown pass performance against LSU on Oct. 10.
Alboverdi later confirmed that Florida placekicker Evan McPherson will also miss the Halloween slate against Missouri. Redshirt junior Chris Howard, who has never kicked a collegiate field goal, will take over kicking duties for McPherson.
