A spokesman for the University of Florida confirmed Sunday that Todd Golden will be coaching the 21st-ranked Gators (2-0) tonight when they host Grambling (1-1) at the O-Dome (7 p.m., SEC Network+). Golden is the subject of an investigation dating back to a Title IX complaint filed back on September 27.
An article in The Independent Florida Alligator that included a copy of the Title IX complaint alleged a number of sexual improprieties with Golden. Over the weekend, Golden issued a statement that read:
“For the last month, I have actively participated in and respected the confidentiality of an ongoing school inquiry. I have recently engaged Ken Turkel to advise me on my ability to bring defamation claims while this confidential investigation is ongoing. My family and I appreciate the support we have received and remain confident the university will continue its efforts to finish its review promptly.”
Turkel is a Tampa-based attorney known for taking on and winning high profile cases of defamation. By reputation, Turkel won’t take on a case that he doesn’t (a) completely believe his client and (b) believe he will win.
Meanwhile, there is a game to be played Monday and another in Tallahassee Friday night against arch-rival Florida State.
Here are the anticipated starting lineups for tonight’s game:
