Going into todays games against the Texas Longhorns all the focus has been placed on the availability of freshman quarterback DJ Lagway who left the Georgia game with a hamstring injury in the 2nd Quarter.
Lagway warmed up with the team and while the arm is still there his mobility looked limited and his prospects for the game still seem to be up in the air. The Gators offense did receive a double blow on the offensive side of the ball as it was announced that receiver Elijah Badger and offensive lineman Damien George Jr. would be out today's contest. That gives the Gators a total of 12 players unavailable for today's contest in Austin.
Should Lagway be unable to go it looks like walk-on quarterback Aiden Warner will be the Gator starter and take on the nations top defense. The Gators do have transfer quarterback Clay Millen available to take snaps as well. Millen started more than 10 games during his time at Colorado State and will be available if needed.
Defensively the Gators will be limited in the secondary without Jason Marshall Jr., Devin Moore, and Jakeem Jackson. The Gators will have cornerback Dijon Johnson available in some capacity but how effective he will be is yet to be seen. Johnson left the game with an undisclosed injury in the second half of the Georgia game.
A win today would give Billy Napier his highest ranked win of his Florida tenure. Napier received a vote of confidence from Athletic Director Scott Stricklen who noted in an email to fans that Napier is likely to return for the 2025 season.
Kickoff is set for 11am Central Time/12pm Eastern.
