I've watched Florida football ever since i began following the game as a six-year old. I never could understand why the Gators didn't win like Alabama, Auburn and Georgia.

Charley Pell was the Coach who ignited the passions of the masses, but not-quite-unified Gator Nation. Steve Spurrier was the right hire at the right time. He was able to get everyone on the same page. From 1989-2009, Florida was the winningest team in college football. Now, it's time for the Gators to take advantage of the numerous resources available.

Billy Napier can change the narrative with a win Saturday in the Swamp against Miami. Nothing succeeds like success. It's time.

What We learned on SEC Sidelines last week from our guests.

ROB BROWNE, SEC SIDELINES

--Auburn is desperate to get out of College Football Purgatory. After three straight losing seasons, it looks like second year Coach Hugh Freeze is turning the program in the right direction...Expect lots of newcomers to play key roles. A tough schedule will make most games 60 minute battles.

--Jordan Hill weighed in on Georgia. The Dawgs will face a daunting SEC road schedule with trips to Tuscaloosa,Oxford & Austin. Don't shed any tears for the Dawgs though, One of the top three most talented rosters will keep the them in every game.

--Yancy Porter of Rebel Yell Hotline talked about the depth on the DL for the Rebels. Twelve big dudes who will bring pain and suffering to every opponent on the schedule. Lane Kiffin will have another highly capable offense.

--Rodney Orr of Tider Insider says first year Coach Kalen DeBoer won't be fazed by the SEC schedule. Like the Georgia, Alaama has a top three roster in terms of talent and a Heisman worthy QB. After a road trip to play Wisconsin, the Tide will have a week off to prepare for Georgia. The Football world will be watching.

--Ron Higgins talked about the LSU Tigers. He says the opener in Las Vegas against USC will say a lot about where the Tigers are in year three under Brian Kelly. Two straight 10-win seasons are good at a lot of schools, but the Tiger fans are wanting more.

--Ken Capps checked in from Texas and tells us the Longhorns are ready to accept the challenge the SEC offers. He feels like the Sooners will catch on quickly too.

And as Henry Barnett used to always say ... "It's not the doing in life that's so tough. It's the dreadin'." So here's to Henry and a great season of college football.
