South Carolina leads No. 16 Florida 17-10 at halftime in The Swamp
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — South Carolina took a 17-10 lead over No. 16 Florida into halftime Saturday at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, scoring 10 points in the final 4:09 of the second quarter.
The swing came right after Malik Orsan's 37-yard field goal tied the game at 10. On Florida's next possession, Vicari Swain intercepted Aaron Philo and returned it 18 yards to the Florida 26. Five plays later, LaNorris Sellers hit Mazeo Bennett Jr. for a 12-yard touchdown with 1:47 left in the half.
Florida answered with a nine-play, 47-yard drive in the final 1:40 but came away empty when Patrick Durkin missed a field goal.
Philo opened the scoring with a 59-yard touchdown pass to Bailey Stockton on Florida's second possession. Sellers answered with a 15-yard scoring pass to Nyck Harbor with 12 seconds left in the first quarter, and Durkin's 21-yard field goal put the Gators back in front 10-7 midway through the second.
