On a big day in which he welcomed six new Gators from the transfer portal, Jon Sumrall got the news he’s been waiting for when Jadan Baugh announced on X that he’s coming back to Florida for his junior year. Baugh made second team All-SEC in 2025 by rushing for 1,170 yards (8 TDs) while catching 33 passes for 210 yards (2 TDs). The 6-1, 233-pounder has career numbers of 1,843 rushing yards (15 TDs) and 37 receptions for 243 yards (3 TDs).

Baugh never entered the portal, but his support group entertained offers from Texas, Georgia and many other top programs in the country. His decision to return to Florida is a major coup for Sumrall who is rebuilding his roster. Currently, the Gators have 49 veterans returning and 18 incoming freshman signees. With the expansion of scholarship limits from 85 to 105, Sumrall has as many as 38 more scholarships at his disposal.

Prior to the Baugh announcement, the big news Tuesday morning was the commitment of former Georgia Tech quarterback Aaron Philo, a dual threat who completed 21-28 passes for 373 yards and a touchdown in his only start, a 59-12 win over Gardner-Webb. As a true freshman in 2024, Philo was 38-74 passing for 565 yards and a TD while running for 76. In his only start as a freshman, Philo threw for 265 yards (1 TD) and ran for 57 yards (1 TD) in a 30-29 win over North Carolina State.

Philo spent two years working with new UF offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner. Philo will compete in the spring for the starting job with Tramell Jones Jr. and early enrollee freshman Will McBride.

Also committing to the Gators Tuesday were former Cincinnati running back Evan Pryor, two former Penn State linemen in guard TJ Shanahan Jr. and tackle Eagan Boyer, and Tulane’s kickers – punter Alec Clark and placekicker Patrick Durkin. Pryor ran for 522 yards (6.8 per carry, 3 TDs) and caught 10 passes for 107 yards (1 TD). Shanahan played in all 13 Penn State games with five starts. Boyer played in eight games as a true freshman, then four in 2025 when he took a redshirt. Clark, an Australian, averaged 46.52 yards per punt that included a 70-yarder. Durkin hit 25-28 field goals, 41-42 of his extra points and scored 116 points. He was 4-6 beyond 50 yards with a long field goal of 52 yards.
