Why Those 'Fraudulent' Gators have a shot

This Florida Gator football team is about to be exposed by LSU as a fraud.

I know this because I’ve been hearing that for weeks now on all the talk shows. Including from my friend Paul Finebaum, who often wears a smirk of disrespect on his face when talking about the Gators and saying “I don’t believe in Florida.”

As if somehow Dan Mullen has been doing all this with smoke and mirrors.

“Kyle Trask isn’t a starting quarterback.”

You’ll hear that one on some shows.

“Their defense isn’t that good.”

I actually heard that one on another shows.

That’s what they’re telling us.

Yada, yada, yada.

It’s entirely possible that Dan Mullen’s 7th ranked team may not win over No. 5 LSU tonight, but I’m calling B.S. on those people who contend that Florida will falter under the Saturday night bright lights of Tiger Stadium and wither under the heat of Joe Burrow’s missiles.

Burrow is looking good, but how was he somehow been transformed into a combination of Kyler Murray, Baker Mayfield and Tim Tebow?

“Right now LSU looks like the No. 1 team in the country.”

There’s another one.

Really? Because last week’s favorite new “best team” was Auburn, a 3-point favorite against the Gators IN The Swamp. How’d that come out?

How are Florida’s opponents elevated and then when they lose, suddenly demoted?

I’m impressed with Burrow’s progress under new co-offensive coordinator Joe Brady. But how Brady’s offense was converted into this alleged steamroller/juggernaut which vaulted The Tigers to the level of Alabama and Georgia is mysterious. And a huge stretch.

I’m wondering if Brady and Burrow and Ed Oregon have met Jonathan Greenard and Jabari Zuniga and Adam Shuler and David Reese and C.J. Henderson and Marco Wilson.

Together they have No. 11 overall total defense, the most interceptions (12, tied with Oregon) fifth most sacks (26), No. 5 ranked scoring defense and the No. 1 ranked goal line defense. You might move the ball between the 1-yard lines but Florida feels like it owns “every blade of grass in the end zone.

It turns out Trask is a little more than a backup quarterback and is, in fact, one of the most accurate passers in college football.

By the way, out of all the teams LSU has beaten in the six, the best ranked defense was Georgia Southern’s No. 61.

So who’s the fraud here? I’m beginning to like Florida’s chances of pulling off win tonight’s game. Even if this, too, is a stretch. I'm going Gators 24, LSU 21.
