Gators move to within one game of first place in the SEC East

Mother’s Day came a day early for the 7th-ranked Florida Gators. With leadoff hitter Cade Kurland standing at the plate in the bottom of the first with a 3-2 count, Mother Nature unloaded with what some country folks call your basic frog strangler. The rain poured down hard but didn’t really last all that long – Florida’s game with 5th-ranked Vanderbilt re-started an hour and 16 minutes later – but Mother Nature had spoken loudly enough that Kevin O’Sullivan didn’t want to take any chances. Rather than send future MLB Draft first rounder Hurston Waldrep back out there after the delay, O’Sullivan elected to turn matters over to his bullpen.
