The moment the baseball left Deric Fabian’s bat Friday evening, he knew it was going to leave the yard at Condron Family Ballpark. It was a 2-seam fast ball from Patrick Reilly on the inside part of the plate that Fabian hit, staking 7th-ranked Florida to a 2-0 second inning lead over 5th-ranked Vanderbilt. About the only question was how far the ball was going to travel.
