- Brilliant bullpen effort saves Gators in game one vs. Aggies
Suddenly, that Florida bullpen doesn’t look like such a liability. Dating back to Brandon Neely’s two perfect innings to close out Missouri last weekend, the bullpen has gone 14-2/3 innings without giving up a run. While putting out fires against Mizzou, Florida State and Texas A&M, Florida relief pitchers have given up just nine hits while striking out 22 hitters.

- Neely to the rescue (again); Gators sweep Mizzou
In the seventh and eighth innings Sunday afternoon, Florida’s bullpen managed to turn what had the makings of a rather ho-hum win over Missouri into an adventure. The Gators (35-10, 14-7 SEC) were on cruise control with a 5-1 lead with one out in the seventh when things started going sideways. Cade Fisher, brilliant in innings four through six, ran into trouble in the seventh, giving up two runs before Phillip Abner came on to douse the flames with a strikeout and a grounder to Josh Rivera at shortstop. Abner ran into trouble in the eighth when he gave up two runs before Kevin O’Sullivan could get Ryan Slater into the game. It was 8-6, nobody out and the bases were juiced with Tigers before O’Sullivan could bring in Brandon Neely.
- Gators let the bats do the talking to take game two against Mizzou
Almost from the first pitch it seemed that Hurston Waldrep was uncomfortable Saturday afternoon against Missouri. He walked leadoff batter Ross Lovich on four straight pitches, none of which seemed all that close. The third pitch to second batter Trevor Austin was a no-doubter the moment it left his bat. It was only a question of how far over the left field fence it would go before gravity brought the ball down to earth.
- Sproat dominates, shuffled lineup hammers; Gators rip Mizzou, 11-1
A change in tactics was called for Friday night and the result was the best game Brandon Sproat has pitched since his 1-hit shutout of Alabama in the Southeastern Conference opener back on March 16.
