Florida Gator Kamar Wilcoxson Headed to Transfer Portal

Updated: Nov 4, 2022

Gator redshirt freshman defensive back Kamar Wilcoxson announced on Twitter he will be entering the transfer portal following the conclusion of the 2022 season.

"Thanks, Coach Napier and his staff for everything they have taught me since January,” said Wilcoxson via Twitter. “I want Gator Nation to know there wasn’t anything I wouldn’t have done for this logo, however sometimes the best thing to do in life is reset and figure things out.”

Wilcoxson signed with the Gators in 2020 at the age of 17 after reclassifying from the 2021 class. After initial success in his 2020 campaign, his 2021 season was cut short due to a knee injury that required surgery in the offseason.

As a result of missing time, Wilcoxson saw his name fall on the depth chart and playing time decreased this season.

He now joins long-snapper Marco Ortiz, offensive lineman Joshua Braun and edge rusher Brenton Cox Jr. as players who are no longer a part of the team.

“Go Gators,” Wilcoxson said. “I wish you guys the best and will be rooting for my guys from a distance.”
