FloridaGators.com said Friday that Tramell Jones Jr. will make his second career start when No. 24 Florida hosts Oklahoma on Saturday night.

Kickoff is 7:45 p.m. ET Saturday, Nov. 7, at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville. The game is on SEC Network. Jones replaces Aaron Philo, who returned to the lineup against Georgia after missing the Texas game with a shoulder injury.

Coach Jon Sumrall declined to name a starter at his Monday news conference, when the depth chart listed Jones or Philo. ESPN reported Thursday, citing a source, that Jones was expected to start. The school's Friday game preview now names Jones as the starter.

How Florida got here

Philo completed 5 of 7 passes for 26 yards with two interceptions in Florida's 27-8 loss at Georgia on Oct. 31, according to Florida's official box score. Jones replaced him in the second quarter and completed 18 of 25 passes for 172 yards with one interception. He also ran nine times for 17 yards and a touchdown.

Jones' only start came Oct. 17 at Texas. He completed 22 of 35 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns, with no interceptions, in Florida's 27-24 win over the No. 7 Longhorns. He also ran 10 times for 41 yards.

By the numbers

Season statistics through Florida's first eight games, per Florida's current cumulative statistics:

Tramell Jones Jr.: 63-of-89 passing (70.8%), 579 yards, 4 touchdowns, 3 interceptions; 24 carries, 83 yards, 1 touchdown

Aaron Philo: 110-of-156 passing (70.5%), 1,367 yards, 9 touchdowns, 5 interceptions; 44 carries, 104 yards, 3 touchdowns

The Friday update comes from Florida's official athletics site. It follows the source-based reports published Thursday and the shared quarterback listing earlier in the week.
